The American Heart Institute founded in 1999, is the first private hospital of its type on the Island that specialises in non-invasive and invasive cardiology interventions and the entire spectrum of adult cardiothoracic surgery. The presence and the activities of the institute, contribute substantially in raising the standards of care in cardiology and cardiac surgery in Cyprus.

The American Heart Institute has maintained a contract with the Cyprus Ministry of Health for these type of procedures for accepting and treating patients since 2001.

In 2004 the American Heart Institute was awarded with the ISO 9001:2000 certification for initiating and maintaining quality management protocols for the admission, treatment and discharge of patients by TUV Germany. It is the only specialized cardiology and cardiothoracic clinic in Cyprus which is ISO 9001:2000 certified and has successfully maintained certification through yearly audits.

The American Heart Institute was voted the company of the year with the best service award in Cyprus for 2004 through a public survey organized by Dias Group, IMH consulting and Cyprus College.
